OilTrack Pro: Real-Time Monitoring for Oil Tanker Fleets

“Built a fleet monitoring system with a dispatcher portal and a driver app that tracks tankers live, raises safety alerts automatically and gives drivers a hold-to-confirm SOS button.”

OilTrack Pro: Real-Time Monitoring for Oil Tanker Fleets

1. Project Background

OilTrack Pro is a Syntrix Systems product for companies that move petroleum products by road. Modeled on Pakistani transport corridors such as Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar and Sukkur, it gives dispatchers a live view of every tanker and gives drivers a simple app for their journey. This first version is a client-demo MVP that simulates live GPS telemetry, so it can be demonstrated without physical hardware.

2. The Challenge

Dispatchers who cannot see their tankers cannot react to problems. Overloaded or speeding trucks, route deviations that may signal cargo theft, and driver emergencies all need to be noticed quickly, and reports have to be assembled by hand afterward. The system had to show live positions, turn safety rules into automatic alerts and work for a client demo with no GPS devices installed, while leaving a clear path to real hardware later.

3. Our Solution & Approach

We built a monorepo with three connected parts. A dispatcher portal in Next.js shows a live fleet map using MapLibre GL, fleet KPIs, vehicle and driver management, an alerts center with filters and bulk acknowledgment, and reports that export to CSV and PDF. A driver app in Expo and React Native offers CNIC login, delivery orders, a journey screen with gauges, cargo-litre sync and a break timer, load management and recovery points. Telemetry flows over WebSockets every two seconds, and a mock server replays a pre-generated dataset for eight trucks so the whole system works without hardware. A Hono, Prisma and MySQL backend provides the persistent API. Seven alert types cover speed and weight limits, a speed-to-weight ratio rule, high temperature, low fuel, engine overheating, geofence breaches and excessive idling, and drivers get a siren-backed alert. A hold-to-confirm SOS button, held for three seconds to avoid accidental presses, sends a panic alert to the dispatcher. Maps, routing and geocoding use free services: CartoDB basemaps, OSRM and OpenStreetMap Nominatim.

4. The Results & Impact

OilTrack Pro shows how a transport operation can see its whole fleet in one place, with safety rules enforced automatically instead of noticed after the fact. Dispatchers get live positions, alerts and exportable reports, and drivers get a focused app with an emergency button. As an MVP built on simulated telemetry, it is ready to demonstrate to clients today, and its architecture is designed to take real GPS devices, a hardened backend and further features in later releases.
